The Holy Father unites with all the members and followers of Blessed Charles’ spirituality through God’s grace. The Holy Father hopes that all will follow the example of Blessed Charles who lived a quiet life influencing those around him in their ordinary and daily lives. Blessed Charles’ Christ like example of desiring to be a “universal brother”, revealed the importance of being close to the poor and abandoned, demonstrates the worth and dignity of humanity. “Each Christian must see others as a well beloved friend”. In essence, for Blessed Charles, in loving others, one learns to love God. May the witness of Brother Charles of Jesus in his humble and hidden life, given over to the service of others, encourage young people to discern the call of God and respond with joy in leaving all to follow God, free of the desire to be rich and powerful. Trusting in Blessed Charles’ intercession during this Jubilee Year of Mercy, peace and reconciliation among the peoples, the Holy Father gives His apostolic blessing to all those who follow Blessed Charles’ spirituality and may they be blessed with his radiance.

Advent Message 2015

Brothers and sisters in the Fraternity of Blessed Charles of Jesus Sat, 01 Aug 2015 04:01:17 +0000 I introduce to you the medals and pins of Br. Charles for the upcoming Centennial year starting December 1st, 2015.

I have taken the initiative to produce these medals, lapel pins, and Jesus Caritas crosses.  All these items were made in China, in very large quantities to keep the price low, so that anyone, any where in the world, can afford to have one.

May 31, 2015 Feast of the VISITATION Sat, 30 May 2015 04:01:31 +0000 The unique feast day celebrated in common that unites all the spiritual family of Blessed Charles.

“The new element in Charles de Foucauld’s teaching on the mystery of Nazareth was that the hidden life in Nazareth was not only a stage in Jesus’ training for his mission as Savior, however long it may have been, but was also salvation itself that was already beginning to work through him.

The best illustration of Bro. Charles’ insight is his meditation on the Visitation of the Virgin to her cousin Elizabeth. Inspired by Bossuet’s ‘Elevations sur les Mystéres’, he did not dwell on Mary’s readiness to help her elderly cousin Elizabeth. In his eyes it was not so much a visit of practical charity to assist her cousin in the last months of her pregnancy and at the birth, although Mary goes to her and this is important.
But something else was far more important: “Mary set out to sanctify St. John, to proclaim the Good News, to evangelize him and to sanctify him, not with words but by bringing Jesus to him in his home, in silence…”.8

This point deserves further development: “John the Baptist was sanctified, and with him, the whole of Zechariah’s family, not through words or an invitation to conversion that would in any case have been impossible, but simply through the presence of the Son of God within her. From before his birth, therefore, Jesus is Savior with his presence alone. Continuing along the lines of Bossuet, Bro. Charles extends this form of sanctification to all souls.

“Just as Mary sanctified John by going to his home and bringing Jesus himself, the living Gospel, within her, a soul that is filled with Jesus can bring salvation. With regard to the Visitation, Bossuet notes that as soon as she is filled with the Holy Spirit she is full of love, and that this is what happens to every soul: it possesses love to the extent that it lives on Jesus”.9
Universal brotherhood

Followers of Charles de Foucauld know well that the Visitation is one of the important pillars of his spirituality. They also know that Jesus of Nazareth was revealed to Bro. Charles as the Universal Brother whom we must imitate if we are to become, with him, a universal brother in miniature.”

Regional Assembly of the North American Fraternities: June 27th in Brooklyn Tue, 28 Apr 2015 01:49:15 +0000 Dear Sisters and Brothers,

100 years anniversary of the death of Blessed Charles de Foucauld

Beginning this December 1, 2015 begins a yearlong celebration of the life and death of Blessed Charles of Jesus. Shot to death, December 1, 1916 in the obscure village of Tamanrasset deep in the Sarah of Algeria, it’s hard to believe that someone who died alone could be the founder of 16 religious congregations. His spiritual children are now in every country on earth, and purposely in the most remote and poorest cities and villages.

Joined together, we are asked by the International Association Charles de Foucauld to do everything we can to use this year both for personal growth, and in some way as a country, dioceses, or whatever possible, to share his life and spirituality. The Association asks us to use this year to promote, make known and in any way to bring his life and contemplative spirituality to the attention of our people.

We have no press releases, there is no one who can charge of this endeavor. We are not organized in any way to do this. It would be a wonderful time to use Catholic magazines, newspapers and other media possible. Maybe you know someone who could aid us in this little mission. We know that Pope Francis is doing a wonderful job for the spirituality of Blessed Charles. His message of fraternal love and the rejection of paternalism is so much at the core of who Blessed Charles was.

As we say: no attitude.

Can you, will you in any way join with us the international family of Blessed Charles throughout the world to use this year to share his life with others?

We welcome any comments, or suggestions.
